From the Golden Light Newsletters
In the 1980s, Arthur Hakalani Pacheco and Emmerson Bartlome worked together to create the Golden Light Newsletters, sharing spiritual teachings and messages received through Arthur’s channeling.
One of our dear friends had lovingly kept all of her copies of the newsletters and recently forwarded them to us. We are deeply grateful to her for preserving these treasures and making it possible for us to share them once again.
I have been guided to bring some of this material to our website because the wisdom and spiritual insights contained in these pages remain meaningful today. From time to time, we will share Spirit messages and articles from the Golden Light Newsletters, offering a glimpse into the teachings and guidance that were shared through Arthur and Emmerson during those years.
Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, who is referred to as the “Spokesman” spoke on behlaf of the council of six Spirit Souls who worked with Arthur Pacheco.

Part 1 of 4 — Birthday Karma, the Buddhic Plane, and Spiritual Understanding
[It was a windy day in Honolulu and a sliding door at Arthur’s apartment kept rattling through the entire session. Arthur had been answering my questions when he found himself going into trance.—E.B.]
Spokesman: I thought I’d make a dramatic entry and say, “I am the Lord of the Winds this day!” Then I thought my friend Ramtha might not like that too much. I believe he claims to be the Lord of the Winds. And indeed, no doubt he is. I wonder if he’s riding shotgun in the sky.
Alright, contact is made, a bit different than usual; the medium is not in such a deep trance in that I desire to try an experiment. Questions, eh, Emmerson? Alright, questions are like cups that can then be filled. Why not? What might be your first question for me?
Emmerson: Is there such a thing as a pre-birthday karmic clean-up cycle?
Spokesman: Well, it would seem so, wouldn’t it? And yet, I’ve got another way to look at it.
Upon the day of your birth, or thereabouts, you can imagine something like this: you are given, as it were, a glowing gem. It glows beautifully. And you’re so happy on your birthday and thereafter.
It remains. However, you note that halfway through the year, the glow is halfway gone. And of course, the conclusion is that towards the end of your year, it’s quite dim. There seems to be darkness of a sort and the sense of desiring that Light and power again.
Then you find yourself being confronted with things that perhaps need confrontation. These come out of one’s sub-psyche. So you see, it might look like a “clean-up” cycle for someone who’s oriented like that.
Emmerson: Can you share with me any perceptions you’ve had on what is called the Buddhic Plane [above the Mental Plane]?
Spokesman: I shall try. That’s not easy. For you see, words, though attempting to convey a message, yet are all separate characters, aren’t they?
And so, to reflect Cosmic Truth through words is in effect so painfully to chop it up! Do you see what I mean? Terrible.
It’s almost like you’ve got a colony of Liliputians who can’t see the whole vase, so you’ve got to break it so that they can appreciate its various units and hopefully they’ll get the concept of what it looked like in its entirety. Do you see what I mean? So must I really?
Emmerson: No.
Spokesman: But I’ll give you something anyway. I can’t leave you empty-handed. Without, I feel, attempting to break said vase, I can say this I have approached the Buddhic Plane when I felt I had “cleaned-up” something, conquered something, achieved something here in the world of Spirit. A goal that I had set for myself.
Having done it and looking about, I was like a king on his turret, surveying it all. “Well, well. We’ve done well now by the Grace of God,” I said to myself, never losing sight of that fact, for it’s so obvious. And then, when you’ve got that done, your homework’s done and your house is clean, and you’ve got some leisure time.
Then, the first thing you want to say is, “Lord, I do believe I’ve cleaned up my world.” Lord, meaning High Self, the I AM. “Now I am joyously with clean hands able to repair more beautifully unto Thee and receive yet my greater increment of awareness of who I am and who Thou Art.” And then one can approach with clean hands and you never do it any other way and you say, “I’ve done my homework, now kindly lead me on!”
And you are led into a place of fantastic Illumination. Understanding beyond your wildest dreams! Understanding it all! All of it. At one shot, all of it! And then, though, you find yourself being drawn to a lesser world where you then knew, even as you descended degree upon degree, that you could not quite take all this with you. And you think, “Lord, I’ll take with me what I can.
Mind you, it’s almost like the thief who knows he can’t stay in the treasure cave he’s discovered, so he fills his pockets with gold, and he leaves. In this world, you’re, in a sense, encouraged to do that; to take as much gold as you can when the opportunity arises. It’s like the child who can’t stay there, for his own karma won’t allow it. But the benefactors are so rich that they say to the child, “Take as much as you can carry. Don’t feel guilty or greedy about it at all.” Would that we could pour this understanding into your world. But we can’t; for you’ve got to come up here to partake of it.
So then you return to your own home, which you suddenly find is being dusted with gold. You’re living in a higher plane—permanently; you’ve been altered. Such is the Grace as it begins. Right off, you don’t have to descend as far down as you did before.
